The KMS40 gaf lock only (or KGL40) is the hook without its mast cars. This makes it possible to install it on competitor cars if the fixing system allows it.

Strengths
- The KMS40 / KGL40 gaff lock only is useful for few competitors who have designed a specific mast car to fit our product. This is the case today for Z Spars and Antal (HS24.80K).

Tips
- The KGL gaff lock is mostly used on cruising catamarans. It is a comfort equipment and not a performance one.
- It is very rarely found on monohulls whose square-topped sails are rather reserved for racing sailboats equipped with running backstays and whose crews are less sensitive to the notion of comfort to the detriment of performance.
- Avoid highly optimized mainsails on the luff. It is important to leave about twenty / thirty centimeters of halyard between the gaff lock and the halyard fixing point in order to keep the assembly a certain flexibility in downwind conditions.
- The system can only operate correctly if the halyard fixing point is closest to the rear face of the mast. The return sheave must therefore be at the end of the masthead. See the installation recomendation drawing in the documentation tab.
- We recommend the use of our high load strop whose diameter and load are optimized for our product
- If you decide to use your own strop. It is important to equip it with a dyneema additional cover to improve sliding and resistance.
