Karver Systems

HISTORY

KARVER was created in 2004 from a major break in the nautical market : the appearance of textile links to replace steel links (shackles), and a visible discrepancy between the increasingly successful design of sailboats and deck fittings that have remained very rustic in appearance.

The team of founders led by Marin CLAUSIN was then convinced that there was a place in the high-end market to develop a company positioned on technological performance exploiting the use of new ultra-resistant textile materials with a very marked design.

All new products are carriers of technological innovations (about fifteen patents filed), of a breakthrough on the state of the art, in addition their design is based on the fundamental principle of a simple and effective technology carried by a sleek design : Development of solutions with racing teams (America’s Cup, Hydrofoil, Vendée globe), leadership in mechatronics with the integration of load sensors with wireless connection in the deck equipment, commitment to eco-responsibility with a carbon footprint from 2009, development and use of bio-sourced materials to replace materials from the petroleum industry.

A significant part of our turnover is generated by the sale of our furlers, which for several years have been a benchmark of quality and performance. Their major assets are these technical characteristics which appeal to racers (weight, dimensions, low friction, load capacity, etc.) but also the automatic locking system of the continuous line wheel which particularly appeals to all amateur sailors looking for simplicity and security.

DNA & AMBITION

INNOVATION

Innovation is Karver’s starting point. We devote a very important part of our time and our profits in research & innovation. A third of our staff is dedicated to the Design Office. Among the notable innovations of recent years : l The automatic lock on all our KF furlers. l The furling swivel which incorporates an extremely compact halyard hook system (KFH). l High load jammers with 3 jaws when all the other products on the market are equipped with 2. l Mast cars equipped with fuses which prevent the breakage of a batten, a car or the track itself.

PERFORMANCE

We make it a point of honor to offer PERFORMING deck equipment :

Lighter, more compact, more resistant, less friction, less maintenance, more practical … KARVER deck equipment applies to all our customers because everyone finds their interest : weight and friction are for example 2 elements which interest racers and boaters for different reasons. Some are looking for weight saving and a low friction rate to go faster when others are satisfied with the level of comfort while taking advantage of the potential speed gain.

The technical characteristics of our products are of course of interest to our professional, semi-professional or amateur racing customers, but also to all boaters. We believe in performance that is useful and beneficial to all. Weight and friction are for example 2 elements that interest racers and boaters for different reasons. Some are looking for weight saving and a low friction rate to go faster when others are satisfied with the level of comfort while taking advantage of the potential speed gain.

A standard KF2 or KF5 furler is also used by 75% of the Class 40 fleet, for example some owners of Océanis 40 or Bavaria 41 Cruiser.

DESIGN

Everyone agrees that our products have a unique design… and we are proud of it.

We have won numerous awards for the design (and innovation) of our products. Without going to extremes, our deck equipment become a real element of differentiation. A recent survey of our customers proves that 56% of them choose Karver for their unique design.

The first product designed and then marketed by Karver was the round KB block ! A real revolution which is now the recurring emblem of our company. In 2014, we created the KJ high load jammer, which once again disrupts both visual and user habits.
