KHR4 hook in anodized aluminum for hooking up reef lines.
Lock dedicated to mainsail reefs. The KHR is installed on the boom (one for each reef) and is controlled from the mast foot or the cockpit by two small controls (hookage / dehookage). The efficiency, simplicity and reliability of the KHR regularly inspire Design Offices and it is not uncommon to see it in a wide variety of applications. KHR : The end of reef humps !

Strengths

Reliability and simplicity : one-piece piece. No internal mechanism.
– Optimized design : behind its simplistic appearance hides many hours of development
– Range from 1T (20ft sailboat) to over 50T (Super Yachts)
– Available in aluminum, stainless steel and titanium
– The connection between the hook and the sail is made by a Dyneema® loop®. Lightness, silence and security.
– Weight and money savings : no need for blockers or large-diameter reefing bumps in Dyneema®
– Product very widely tested on many racing yachts, cruisers and Super Yachts.
– Simple assembly. Can be used as a back-up solution
– Works very well even with a loose mainsail
– Standard equipment for MOD70s

Tips

– The use of a KHR lock leads to the loss of border adjustment if a hoist is not provided (Cunningham at gooseneck). Cruising catamarans take the side of an acceptable average setting. Racing yachts are sometimes equipped with a boom on a hydraulic cylinder.
– The installation of a KHR involves fine adjustment of the length of the lashing attachment. We recommend a final adjustment at sea.
– The KHR hook is controlled by 2 commands (very small diameters). Think about the integration on or in the boom.
– The use of a KHR is very different from a classic reefing. We recommend that you lower the mainsail sharply to facilitate the operation.
– The junction with the hook is made by a Dyneema® loop usually sheathed with a sheath itself in Dyneema®. These loops are installed by the sailmakers.
– Several KHRs have been installed in bowsprit or below deck to manage headsail tacks.
