KGL40 V2 GAFF LOCK + HB CARS 2026 KARVER NEW PRODUCTS

At the request of several boatyards, we’ve developed a new version of our mainsail gaff lock.

This system has a single purpose — to make life easier for cruising sailors, by allowing the automatic stowing of the mainsail top batten into the lazy bag, without the need for awkward (and sometimes risky) manoeuvers.

The new KGL features significantly reduced friction compared to the first version.
It can be used with a single or double halyard, requires no special masthead fitting, and comes with a locking pin to secure the lock during long passages.

In the coming months, the KGL will also be available in versions compatible with other brands’ mast cars — although, of course, it works best with Karver cars… but we’re not going to be too chauvinist about it!

The Karver KGL40 V2 gaff lock is an enhanced evolution of the model already installed on hundreds of catamarans around the world. Its purpose is simple: to ensure that the gaff batten automatically releases and neatly stows itself in the lazy bag, without requiring any acrobatics above the gooseneck.
Made of two separate parts, this gaff lock is smoother to operate and offers significantly reduced friction. It can be used with either a single or a double-line halyard.
During long passages, when the gaff batten is kept permanently engaged, the system can be locked for added security.
The KGL40 V2 gaff lock is available with or without our KMS40 slider cars. We can adapt our cars to Antal, Harken, and Ronstan tracks. It will soon be possible to order a KGL40 V2 that fits competitor car systems as well.
