The KFR8.0 RACING is a furler that can withstand a workload of 8 T. It is intended for sailboats from 55 to 65 feet. The KFR8.0 is a Karver furler of 3rd generation. It is fitted as standard with a carbon / Kevlar® continuous line wheel, a carbon housing, a 3: 1 friction sheave fitted with a captive fast pin and a swivel also protected by our K Krok impact protection. Warning : the automatic drum locking system is not available right now on the KFR8.0 carbon drum.
There are many options available to make it unique and perfectly suited to your needs.

The KFR8.0 RACING is delivered with a drum and its swivel. It allows furling in complete safety from the cockpit complementary so-called “flying” sails such as a gennaker, a code 0, a staysail, etc … It is also possible to furl an asymmetric spinnaker by equipping it with our KTS adapter.

Strengths

Major innovations :
– Patented carbon & Kevlar continuous line wheel > Resistance, better grip, less wear, aesthetics, weight gain, customization possibilities. The weight gain linked to the use of carbon has allowed us to strengthen more essential mechanical elements.
– 2 in 1 Karver Snap (K Snap) on Standard & Classic versions > snap shackle + 2: 1 friction sheave > Very compact & resistant. The only snap shackle on the market to actually hold the full load. The friction sheave will be particularly useful to position your furler on a bowsprit in complete safety.
– The K Kroks are silicone impact-resistant protectors that we have installed as standard on the ABS casings and the swivels of the Standard, Classic and Structural versions. These new ergonomic protections will effectively protect the boat (hull, deck, mast, etc, ..) and the furler itself.
– Aesthetics : Black range, carbon, mirror polished stainless steel, hard anodization of aluminum.

Other new features :
– Wide continuous line wheel available for KF1.5, KF3.0 : More torque for less effort and more power….
– The KFR Racing versions are fitted as standard with a carbon housing
– New opening system for the captive fast pins more ergonomic, more reliable and easier to clean.
– Replacing the swivel shackles with lashing eyes. More compact, lighter and more resistant.
– Possibility to add a wood veneer on the continuous line wheel and / or on the carbon housing
– Always more performance :
o Lighter (carbon)
o More compact (K Snap and lashing swivel eyes)
o More resistant (carbon)
o Easier to use (new low friction bearings / new fast pins / Snap)
o Easier to maintain (new design )
– Reinforcement of the remote locking system of the continuous line wheel. Possibility of not ordering this standard accessory.
– Definitely the best quality / price ratio on the market

Karver standards kept
– Automatic “loosening” of the furling line when it is not under tension : limits wear, avoids burning your fingers.
– Quick installation of the furling line (Karver invention since 2003!)
– Standard delivery of the automatic lock that can be dismantled in a few seconds (Karver invention since 2011… criticized by all our competitors… and now imitated by all !
– List of XXLong accessories including carbon housing, KTS, cableless, 3: 1 friction sheaves, optional 2:1 blocks, clamps, etc, …

Tips

– Warning ! The carbon drum of the KFR8.0, KFR10.0 and KFR12.0 are not, for the moment, equipped with the automatic locking system of the drum. If this is an important function for you, it is available with the standard drum (fiber-reinforced plastic and protected by our K Kroks system).
– A furler is a piece of comfort and safety equipment. It allows you to roll and unroll your sail from the cockpit.
– Furling sails are called “flying” because unlike a genoa, they are not intended to stay in place all the time. They are usually put away at the end of use or at the end of the day.
– A furling sail cannot be used partially rolled up unlike a furling genoa. It is completely rolled up or unrolled.
– This reference includes a drum equipped with a lashing eye + a swivel equipped with a lashing eye + 1 neoprene storage bag the manual
– Non delivered : The furling line (operation line), the anti-torsion line (Installed and delivered with the sail), the thimbles (installed and delivered on the anti-torsion line). All these equipments are available in the options list.
– If you use the furler with a bowsprit, we advise to install a 3:1 friction sheave. This fitting will prevent you from acrobatic operations and easily bring the furler back to the deck . For sails that need more tension (Code 0 for example), we recommend also a 3: 1 friction sheave.
– Most of our furlers can be ordered with a “drum” option ». This option is usually reserved for fixed (Solent) or semi-fixed (staysails) sails with short edges. This option is not suitable for sails with very large overlaps (border).
